No Show shows up again!

So my friends call me No Show because I only seem to be able to attend maybe 1 in every 5 get-togethers that they plan. But I have to say, I'm on a roll this week. I have made it to 2 events just in the past 7 days - gotta be some kinda record for me. Went to NNN's late-night birthday gathering last Friday, and now "Women Who Wine" night at Clay-n-Latte last night. Had a great time at both. I do have to say though, that I'm glad I didn't end up sitting with Michigan, Goddess, GS and JG last night 'cause those guys were gettin' all crazy detailed with their "art-pieces". I swear, each of their finished items looked like something you could buy, like, at a real store. WAY too intimidating. Instead I sat at the ghetto-free-hand art stylin' table with The Brain and her sissy. Our "pieces" were more like something you could buy at oh, say, a garage sale...but we had just as much fun! Think I'll drag the kids there for some more ghetto-free-hand art stylin' fun this weekend. :)

Speaking of kids, I have to mention how proud I was of Bubba yesterday. I had to bring him in to work with me for a little while in between the 2 doctors appointments he had scheduled for the day. I gave him a quick tour of the manufacturing areas and it really seemed as though he not only was interested in how everything worked, but actually understood the manufacturing process flow as I explained it to him. Pretty impressive considering not all of the employees who work here have a firm understanding of how we do things...
Then, I had a meeting with his teacher, who had lots of really positive things to say about his academic progress and behavior. It was definitely a good Bubba day!

Na-na gave me my Mother's Day present a bit early last night (little ones can't keep secrets). I was the, oh-so-proud recipient of a hand-colored paper teapot, w/1 teabag, a lima bean plant growing in a hand-decorated plastic cup, and of course, a hand drawn card. He was so proud of his presents. It's funny...as we get older, I think we forget that the thought behind the gift can be so much more important than the gift itself. I mean, some of the ladies and I were even joking last night about giving our Clay-n-Latte art projects to our moms - ONLY joking though. None of us would actually consider giving our "art" as gifts - some of us didn't even want to put our names on the darn things to admit that the item in question was indeed crafted by us. But really if you think about it, wouldn't that still be the best gift to give...something you worked hard on, put thought into and made with love? Don't get me wrong, if I am given something ridiculously expensive, like a really nice pair of diamond earrings, I won't be taking them back to the store... However, sometimes I think we could really learn a lot from our kids about priorities.

Okay, enough pondering for today. Peace out...
